Learning Support At Tiree High School Pre-5 to S6

We have an excellent and established Learning Support Department offering help to students with a wide range of barriers to learning and to all age ranges across the school. The continuity of support offered to our students throughout their time at Tiree High School enables us to know them as individuals and develop a full understanding of their difficulties and potential.

Working in partnership with parents/carers, class and subject teachers we identify, make provision for, and review provision for the additional support needs of our students. Further support and guidance is sought and implemented from Speech and Language Therapy and a variety of educational services including Educational Psychology.

The Learning Support Department is staffed as follows:

Miss Jan Paterson
Mrs Morven MacArthur
Mrs Janie MacPhail
Ms Frances Khetrat

Ms Michelle Patterson

Miss Calen MacNeil

Pastoral Support At Tiree High School Pre-5 to S6

At Tiree High School it is important that children and young people build positive relationships by spending time with teachers and school staff, and by trusting that they can have confidential access to a member of staff when they need it. They must then be able to rely on prompt and appropriate information and support to get the help they need, when they need it, effectively.

Ruth Kelso is our Health and Wellbeing Family Liaison Officer.  She is the link person between the School and home.  She is here to support pupils and families to access and enjoy School.  Her door is open and she is at the end of the phone if you need a chat, if she can’t help, she can hopefully point you in the direction of someone who can.

Pupils are provided with support and pastoral care by an identified member of staff and our Health and Wellbeing Family Liaison Officer.
